While assembling this issue of Dream Catcher 42 it was fascinating to see, amidst submissions dating from April onwards, how little these these current storms of Brexit Britain , brand new president-elect and that small matter of a global pandemic, were overtly alluded to, though some of them have snuck into some of the stories and poems.
Dream Catcher Meaning Symbolism
Physical confinement seems to have led to unusually diverse responses, encompassing nostalgia, horror, lyricism, eulogies to loved ones and the natural world, and even the very process of writing poetry and the many ends it serves. We dip into the labyrinths beneath Paris; visit libraries and museums; walk on beaches and moorland; ponder in gardens. We are invited to reimagine classical myths and historical femmes fatales; to smell spicy chole; listen to music boxes; and commune with some frankly terrifying dogs. We revisit childhoods less than idyllic; sit with the dying; and grieve with the bereaved. There is dark humour, wit and irreverence. I hope something here will resonate with you, or prompt you to write yourself.
